POSITION PROFILE:
The Business Development Sales Specialist for Safran DSI Space Solutions will assist the Sales team lead the expansion of space technology solutions within traditional Aerospace Defense contractors and “New Space” actors. This role is an entry level position for someone who wants to embrace a career in Sales, strategic capture planning, and willingness to learn extensive understanding of various satellite subsystems, with the goal of securing key partnerships and new opportunities with U.S. based space satellite manufacturers. The BD Sales Specialist will assist the Vice President of Commercial Sales to develop and execute account strategies to penetrate and expand Safran DSI’s presence in targeted defense markets, leveraging strong relationships with prime contractors.
This position requires coordinating high-level presentations and capturing detailed operational knowledge, help following up on action items and customer quotes and proposals, work with the sales team, and tracking CRM metrics for optimal business growth, all while reporting to the VP of Commercial Sales.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the operational approach and implementation of plans for enabling DSI Space Solutions’ penetration and expansion of space products into multiple satellite manufacturers in the US space industry
- Contribute to responding timely to customers’ requests for quotes and proposals
- Rapidly develop a deep understanding of Safran Space Solutions products, technologies, and internal practices
- Coordinate capture plan synergized with the Vice President of Commercial Sales for development of Safran DSI Space Solutions business
- Attend relevant industry conferences, trade shows, workshops, forums, etc. to build business relationships for the above growth markets
- Track and ensure follow-through on opportunities: master Safran DSI CRM and Finance tools
- Work with the Technical and Inside Sales teams to ensure KPI’s for capture are met
- Advise and report to Safran DSI Space Solutions business unit leadership of significant opportunities, associated capture plan and generate sales leads
- Help in negotiating sales transactions offerings and closing deals
- Perform customer-benefit focused and technical-oriented business development presentations demonstrating an ability to communicate comfortably with customers
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or business in the field of Aerospace
- Understanding of space technologies pertaining to various satellite subsystems such as electric propulsion, onboard and ground radio communications, positioning and timing technologies, optical sensors
- Ability to give technical presentations
- Strong interest in business development, including proposal development for space sub-systems
- Skilled at building strategic capture plans, business forecast and reporting target achievement to top management
- Skilled at solicited and unsolicited proposal and white paper writing
- A passion for space technologies
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status Required
IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:
- Prior sales experience
- Conversational French
TRAVEL: There will be up to 25% travel both domestic and international visiting customer sites and Safran facilities in France and Switzerland
Salary Range: $72,000 to $77,000 annual salary
