POSITION PROFILE:

 

The Sr. Engineer/SME will be responsible for technical pre- and post-sales product presentations, engineering support, and training for airborne, ground, and space related recorders and instrumentation systems. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support various duties related to RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs responses to customers
  • Resolve pre- or post-sales issues with Safran products
  • Prepare and present product demonstrations for customers
  • Collect and establish an understanding of customer requirements and verify that our solutions support customers’ requirements, or work with Safran Business Unit to establish a solution
  • Verify proper operation of the demo equipment prior to the demonstration and inform the customer about features, functions and performance of products
  • Train customers on product operations for hardware, software, and GUI’s
  • Collaborate with Safran Business Units to recreate customer configurations to resolve issues with products
  • Serve as a liaison between the customer and Safran for development and design activities
  • Understand customer use cases for OB&T products and explain how products can meet or exceed customer requirements
  • Collaborate with other Safran engineers (HW and/​or SW) to resolve issues as part of the development process.
  • Travel as necessary to support customer product evaluations.
  • Travel to various Business Units for program acceptance testing, training, and support various activities such as business development activities
  • Comply with Safran Aerospace procedures and policies.
  • Comply with applicable Safran Security requirements.
  • Provide onsite pre-sales support, which requires preparation and performing demonstrations promoting Safran products, preparing briefing materials and presentations to potential customers.  Other pre-sales duties include customer support for product evaluations of Safran products including software and hardware
  • Support training and troubleshooting issues encountered during the pre-sale, integration, verification stages and the life cycle of the programs for Safran products. 
  • Support Regional Sales Managers (RSM) for pre-and post-sales support
  • Collaborate with, support and direct Field Application Engineers (FAE’s) as needed for sales and post-sales support duties

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • No direct reports, but will mentor and direct support activities of Field Application Engineers as needed

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required.
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
  • 7 years Testing and Instrumentation experience
  • Software development experience is a plus

 

IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:

  • Familiarity with working in an ITAR environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in telemetry, instrumentation, systems engineering and systems architecture
  • Knowledge and understanding of Flight Test Operations
  • Advanced knowledge of Networking including latest bus technologies such as PCIe, USB, SAS/​SATA and/​or Ethernet protocols
  • Advanced knowledge of Async and Synchronous data buses used on military and commercial aircraft such as Fibre Channel, Firewire, Mil-Std 1553
  • Working knowledge in instrumentation design and operations and high-speed test/​measurement equipment:
  • Demonstrated experience in debugging and trouble shooting
  • Experience with Safran products is a plus
  • Ability to understand and explain environmental conditions in which Safran products must operate
  • Ability to promote the value of Safran products and services effectively
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communications (written and oral) skills
  • Ability to analyze and develop innovative solutions to complex problems and communicate effectively at the highest levels of the company 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a self-directed environment
  • Must be a team player, able to share knowledge, learn from others, and support other teams within the organization.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

  • Fluency in the English Language is required.
  • Fluency in the French language is a plus.

  • Travel required – up to 50%, domestic and international
