POSITION PROFILE:
The FP&A / Cost Accountant ensures that costs for the company’s products and services are allocated according to corporate procedures and in compliance with IFRS, & US GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards as promulgated in the Federal Acquisition Regulations. The role involves collecting and analyzing financial data, developing trend flux reviews, budgets and forecasts, creating financial models with a focus on product and project pricing, overhead rates, and supporting decision-making through comprehensive analytics and financial reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze all sales & gross margin activities for Space Solutions and Testing and Telemetry business lines including, but not limited to revenue recognition for long-term projects (ASC 606)
- Participate with Program Managers with Project Status Reviews, review and challenge of estimated costs at completion for long-term integration projects
- Work closely with Controller in establishing, documenting, and managing Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) policies and procedures
- Collaborate with Controller ensuring accurate accounting for costs incurred to appropriate cost pools, review cost pool trends, and allocation base trends
- Analyze and provide commentary on pool / overhead variances
- Prepare business activity reports, financial reports, rolling forecasts, key performance indicators, and actuals vs. budget analysis, heavy focus on predictive business analytics
- Be able to identify and recognize opportunities to mitigate or eliminate costs
- Perform month-end & year-end close activities to include, but not limited to account reconciliations as assigned, budget actual variance, prior year to current year variance reviews and present findings / commentary to management
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations as assigned
- Participate with Controller to establish and monitor manufacturing standard costs for Colorado manufacturing facility
- Oversee physical inventory located at Norcross and Colorado facilities ensuring accuracy and integrity of all company inventories
- Responsible for managing all company inventory accounts
- Comply with DSI procedures, policies, and security requirements
- Additional duties as assigned
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Accounting or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant work experience in a similar role
- Government accounting to include CAS, building labor rates and price justification experience is a plus
- Must be detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex financial information
- Ability to work in a self-directed, as well as team environment
- MS Office and standard business software tools, heavy emphasis on Spreadsheet design and management of data ingested into financial analysis and financial statements
- Must be a US Citizen or US Protected Individual
IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:
