POSITION PROFILE:
The Controller is responsible for managing the accounting department for the Testing & Telemetry and Space Solutions business units, providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all Company activities that will assist management in making educated economic decisions about the Company’s operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the activities of the accounting, disbursements and accounts receivables staff
- Manages the monthly closings and reporting and post results to dashboard
- Compile and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and documenting business transactions
- Administer Company’s timekeeping system for DCAA compliance, review weekly or bi-weekly payroll proposals, and prepare journal entries and labor distribution
- Assist with preparation and coordination of the financial statements’ review process
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
- Coordinate and manage annual review of internal controls and financial procedures
- Research and troubleshoot issues; contact appropriate personnel for assistance in solving issues together
- Assist in tax information gathering and reporting processes
- Prepare reporting based on Department of Defense (DOD) / DCAA policies
- Prepare various internal and external financial, operational and statistical reports. These include monthly account reconciliations, balance sheets, statements of net assets, other financial statements and ad hoc requests from management and business partners
- Serve as subject matter expert in SAP
- Assist in complying with reporting requirements of Safran and Safran USA
- Initiate ACH payments, wire transfers and weekly SAP check payments
- Perform a range of duties relating to accounts receivables, including posting cash receipts, clearing invoices, preparing month-end A/R reports and coordination with Sales Team
- Work with the Supply Chain team to analyze and reduce purchase and production variances
- Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overall supervisory responsibility for all accounting, disbursement and accounts receivable activities
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in finance or related field
- Minimum five years’ experience in a similar field
- Work in an ITAR compliant environment
- Strong accounting background in a mid-sized corporation
- Requisite knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Infor M3 experience using Finance and controlling modules
- SAP experience using Finance and controlling modules
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel required
- Experience working for a DoD federal contractor
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent analytical, organizational, oral and written skills
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required
IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:
- Advanced knowledge in DCAA cost accounting
- Worked for a company reporting under IAS/IFRS
- Fluency in the French language is a plus
