POSITION PROFILE:
The Applications Engineer will be the primary technical interface with customers to assist with product setup, system integration, and troubleshooting. This role will also be responsible for developing and maintaining product support documentation, scripts, and example demonstrations. A successful candidate will be one with strong interpersonal skills, a breadth of technical understanding and curiosity, extensive experience with hardware and software, hands-on experience with imaging or image sensors, and the ability to work with autonomy and efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with customers to set up hardware products, diagnose, and resolve common technical issues at an embedded system level.
- Develop user guides, application notes, helper scripts, and demonstration materials to streamline support requests.
- Create and maintain example code demonstrating the utilization of camera features and functions.
- Develop requirements and testing procedures for new product features.
- Test and evaluate new sensor features under diverse operating conditions.
- Work closely with the sales team to understand customer needs and offer tailored technical support.
- Conduct technical demonstrations in-person and via platforms like Microsoft Teams.
- Effectively communicate product specifications and measurement techniques to customers with varying technical expertise.
- Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field with 2+ years of experience in an engineering role with hands-on hardware experience, preferably within technical customer support or applications engineering function.
- Familiarity with image sensors and processing techniques.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Python; familiarity with at least one additional object-oriented programming language is preferred.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting electronics, firmware, and hardware.
- Requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required.
IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:
- Strong analytical abilities, including troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and printed circuit board layouts.
- Proficiency in Python and experience working with both Windows and Linux environments.
- Hands-on experience with hardware and software tools.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high efficiency and productivity.
- Experience working in an ITAR environment
TRAVEL: Little travel is expected for this position, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required
SALARY RANGE: $80,000-$130,000 annual salary, plus participation in individual performance bonus plan.
