POSITION PROFILE:

 

The role will serve as the business development leader for Safran Defense & Space Inc., with responsibilities to manage Safran Helicopter Engines (SHE) and Safran Power Units (SPU) strategic partnerships to grow their business with U.S. airframers, UAV and missile manufacturers, and U.S. military and government agencies.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead, manage, and develop business development focused on identifying new business opportunities for SHE/SPU propulsion & power generation systems in the U.S.
  • Contribute to the development and deployment of the Safran DSI and customer strategy by creating a plan to achieve the Medium/Long-term objectives.
  • Produce and update management on identified actions and opportunities for growth
  • Identify and support strategic milestones to shape requirements and facilitate the selection of SHE/SPU products.
  • Provide insight and forecasts to manage current and future sales campaigns and support needed, including support needed from SHE/SPU headquarters.

 

  • Contribute to the development of offers for products and services, including preparation of the offers for management review (competitors, intelligence, etc.) and proposals for the customer.
  • Contribute to the development of the Marketing materials needed to promote SHE/SPU products.
  • Detail the competitive landscape, stakeholders map, and recommend approaches to a successful outcome.
  • Propose and contribute to the development of communication releases and communication actions.
  • Act as the liaison between customers and SHE/SPU international leadership.
  • Provide technical briefings to customers and communicate feedback to frame SHE/SPU product roadmaps.
  • Participate in applicable US DOD tradeshows, events and symposiums.
  • Run sales campaigns by coordinating relevant resources from SHE/SPU, in agreement with Safran DSI organization and in accordance with SHE/SPU strategy
  • Support negotiations with the Customer to best position SHE/SPU and Safran DSI
  • Other duties as assigned

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing business development or programs in the U.S. aerospace and defense market with experience in aerospace products and services, preferably in propulsion systems or programs.
  • Previous U.S. Military or Department of Defense service, with advanced professional knowledge and experience working with the DoD, specifically in the areas of materiel acquisition, budget, and requirements development
  • Strong, trusted professional network with relevant program offices, DoD Services, and aerospace and defense industries aligned with the propulsion and power market channels.
  • Strong leadership and initiative, able to operate in a complicated environment and develop the situation to grow business.
  • Strategic vision on how to grow relationships and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to anticipate and react to potential issues in a timely manner and develop needed action plans through the entire SHE/SPU community
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident

 

IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering or related engineering field.

  • Masters degree (M.A.) or equivalent preferred

  • Familiarity with working in an ITAR environment

  • Experience working within a matrixed organizational structure

  • Knowledge of SAP Environment

 

TRAVEL:  Significant travel may be required.  Frequently travel is outside of the local area and overnight.  Some of the travel is international.
