POSITION PROFILE:

The Buyer II is responsible for planning, sourcing, negotiating, buying, and managing a wide range of purchase requirements in a DoD environment supporting internal organizations in a compliant manner aligned with internal policies and procedures.

This role requires a proactive, organized professional with strong communication and negotiation skills who ensures timely, cost‑effective purchasing; maintains accurate records; resolves discrepancies; and builds effective supplier relationships.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the procurement of goods and services—including raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies—based on MRP demand or purchase requisitions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to obtain accurate and timely information regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Analyze ERP output, identify and resolve inventory discrepancies, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Expedite purchase orders as required for pullins, pastdue order resolution, and critical material needs.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, bid requests, and related documentation.
  • Review and evaluate supplier proposals; negotiate pricing and terms within established budgets and authority levels.
  • Maintain complete and accurate procurement records including costs, delivery status, quality, performance, and inventory levels.
  • Keep the ERP purchase order system updated with current order status and expected delivery dates at the time of order placement.

Preexpedite open purchase orders to proactively ensure ontime delivery.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in a purchasing or supply chain environment
  • Requires a minimum of a High School diploma; advanced education is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Requires U.S. Protected Individual Status

 

 

IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:

  • Preferred experience includes purchasing in NPI, Engineering, and full Manufacturing environments
  • Experience with ITAR compliance and DoD contracts

 

TRAVEL:

  • Travel to suppliers is expected to assist with site assessments and deal with critical issues
