POSITION PROFILE:

The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing a wide range of maintenance tasks to ensure the continuous upkeep, cleanliness, safety, and quality of all Optronics facilities. This includes primarily the Bedford, NH headquarters, as well as support for other DSI business units.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs regular inspections and maintenance of all property systems including HVAC, water, humidification, electric and other systems to ensure efficient operation in accordance with preventative maintenance schedule.   
  • Responds promptly to maintenance requests from various departments, ensuring timely resolution of issues to support uninterrupted operations, while prioritizing in order of importance.  
  • Ensures common areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained by performing general maintenance tasks including painting, carpentry, and other miscellaneous duties as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory supplies.
  • Handles waste disposal, restocking supplies, and reporting shortages or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Leads janitorial staff and external contractors in close coordination with Sr Facilities Manager to ensure facility maintains required standards, including cleanrooms certifications.
  • Escorts external contractors and vendors to facilitate access for specialized repairs or services, ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers and contractors.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience maintaining various commercial building systems and contractors, including but not limited to: HVAC, clean rooms, plowing, landscaping, janitorial, and electrical.
  • Construction skills such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and roofing.
  • Proficient in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, mechanical equipment, and measuring devices.  
  • Ability to safely operate, climb and perform work on ladders.
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights and in various environments (rooftops, mechanical rooms, and confined spaces).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.  
  • Willingness and ability to work effectively in all weather conditions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires U.S. Citizenship.

 

IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:

  • 2-3 years of maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience working in an ITAR environment.

TRAVEL: no regular travel
