POSITION PROFILE:

The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service Members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service Members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service Members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval.

 

The Business Development Fellow will report to the Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at Safran Defense & Space Inc. (DSI) and support the alignment of DSI technologies with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) priorities through strategic analysis, corporate initiatives, and competitive assessments. This role involves collaboration with DSI leadership, external industry influencers, and international Safran Group members to drive key projects such as the DSI Strategic Roadmap and provide insights on market trends, competitor strategies, and customer requirements.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct report to the Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development for Safran Defense & Space Inc (DSI)
  • Assist in the strategic analysis of the US Department of Defense budget, programs, priorities and alignment with DSI technologies and capabilities. 
  • Lead and manage various DSI corporate level projects to include the DSI Strategic Roadmap. 
  • Interface directly with the DSI business units at the executive levels, their business teams and support staff.
  • Outside collaboration with Aerospace and Defense influencers to include Think Tanks, Third Parties, Industry Partners, Suppliers, Press, Congressional staff and Industry Associations.
  • International collaboration opportunities with members of the parent group Safran Engineering & Defense (SED) business.
  • Active participation in executive level meetings within DSI, engagements with the businesses and attendance in key industry events.
  • Identify and understand current operational missions, gaps, and roadmaps within the US DoD and defense primes relative to the market segment.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of customer program requirements, current and future opportunities, organizational structure and key decision-makers in the US DoD, defense primes and associated supply chain.
  • Prepare a Fellowship experience presentation to leadership upon completion of SkillBridge Program
  • Up to 10% travel required.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Active military personnel status required
  • Experience in the Pentagon, preferably G3/5/7, G8, OCLL. SAFM-BU, Secretariat or within a PEO or Contracting Command 
  • Basic understanding and familiarity of the defense acquisition processes
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Proven track record in developing and meeting forecasts.
